What We Believe
IR
looks for athletes with the passion and drive to pursuit their dreams
and goals; our passion, why we get up in the morning, is to be the team
behind those athletes, to build their skills, manage their athletic and
academic state so they achieve success.
IR has trained many athletes over the last 10 years, ranging from
Olympic and World Cup level down to Kinder. We are very proud of the
achievements of all our athletes, and delighted that we played a part
in their journey towards success and personal growth.
We
offer a program focussed on the long term development and sustainable
growth of U14 & U16 student athletes.
The IR environment is focussed, structured, challenging and supportive.
Our IR culture is based on respect, work ethic and an understanding of
what it takes to be successful…in the classroom, on the hill and most
importantly in life.

In 2014/2015
the camp fee is based on how many weeks the athlete
participates. Athletes who commit to longer programs
will enjoys a cheaper cost per week rate.
e.g
Athlete doing a 10 week program
10 weeks x
$1255.00 CAD = $12550.00 CAD + Canadian GST (5%)
The Academy program runs from December 8th 2014 - April
10th 2015.
Rate Conditions
1. The fee is a strictly
flat rate; No pro-rata
for missed days or race days is available. Participants (under
enrolment terms and conditions) must have insurance that will cover any
extended loss of fees paid due to injury or other personal reasons. **
Please note, to be eligible, for any insurance support, the participant
must be fully paid up. This is a requirement of most insurance
companies/policies.
2.
Away race costs are not included in the flat camp cost, this is the
industry standard practice as away race costs cannot be fixed.
Additional petrol costs will be charged for races not held at (Nakiska,
Norquay or Lake Louise)
3. Please review all extra conditions of training listed at bottom of
page.
4.
Non-scheduled airport pickup and deliveries are costed as an addition
to the set camp fee. Non-scheduled pickups can only be serviced where
resources are available to service the request. (Calgary airport is 1.5
hours drive from Canmore, so non-scheduled pickups are not trivial). To
service, non-scheduled pickup/deliveries, IR must cover, fuel, wages,
airport parking, meals and loading under Canadian law. The set fee is
to cover these costs.
** We always suggest athletes of sufficient
age catch the airport shuttle, which will pickup or drop the athlete
within 300 meters of Windtower.
5.
International Racer reserves the right to refuse admittance or alter
groups based on numbers
6. All Canadian based camps must charge GST under Canadian Tax law.
International Racer is legally bound to collect 5% GST of the camp fee
as an exclusive cost.
7. Group places are limited, preference will be given to athletes who
want a full time program. Alternative dates will be considered on
application, but cannot be guaranteed
8. All athletes participate with the meal plan. In 2015, This
is
a mandatory requirement of the accomodation provider as they need to
allocate resources to cover meal provision, sufficient and predictable
numbers are required to cover the expense and logistics.
9. Groups must have a minimum 6 athletes to run.
10 Per clause 2, petrol costs for races held in BC are not included in
standard camp costs, due to distance. These costs will be costed with
participants directly.
11. Free skiing at mountains other than Nakiska will be treated the
same as an away race. This will be costed seperately with participants.
eg Lake Louise
12. Athletes will be responsible for their own lunches during away
races. Other meals will be managed by IR as part of any additional away
race costs.
Additionally, participants are responsible for their own meals on
nights where IR eats out for dinner.
13.
Full fees must be paid before the camp
starts, the majority of our costs are 3rd party and wages. IR is not
able to be a credit provider for athletes. IR cannot accept athletes
who are not fully paid up. This will be strictly enforced.
Participants must provide details of a working credit card.
IR
researves the right to charge each credit card 10.00 on enrolment to
ensure the credit card number is valid.
14. When group
number do not reach the minimum 6, existing participants will be
offered a private or group number rate.
15.
Participants must be insured against the possibility of injury or
illness preventing training. Fees paid will not be returned, due to the
high percentage of 3rd party costs and guaranteed coach wages.
16.
Participants receive a lift pass with their IR program, This is
a requirement of the Nakiska lift company. Participants are
free
to purchase regional passes that cover Nakiska as a seperate cost to
themselves; however, IR is not able to reduce their camp fees
as
we are obligated to purchase Nakiska passes as part of the program
delivery.

Nakiska
Nakiska Ski Area, which was
used during the 1988 Olympic Winter Games, was designated a national
training centre last year. Millions of dollars have been spent jointly
by the Alberta Government and Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (RCR) to
upgrade training facilities including: widening three training runs to
60 metres, extending the core training run - Mapmaker - by 650 metres,
adding 11 kilometres of safety B-netting and enhancing snowmaking on
the run from top to bottom.
“Nakiska Ski Area provides the quality of ski training for clubs and
Alpine Canada athletes, and supports the goals of Athletes at every
level from club skiers to the elite athletes on Alpine Canada Alpin."
The value of a training location can be measured by the quality of
teams that train there .. here are just a few
*
Canadian Alpine Team (Mens Tech and Speed)
* Canadian Alpine Team (Womens Tech and Speed)
* BC and Alberta Regional Teams
* Norwegian Mens Speed
* Slovenia Mens Speed Team
* USA Junior Development Teams
Norquay
“Norquay
is where I learned to ski and it keeps me coming back for more when I’m
not chasing gold medals around the world. At Norquay I’m sure you will
find everything you need to have a great time!” ... Thomas Grandi
As
an close alternative to Nakiska, our coaches also train our athletes at
Norquay, a mountain close to Banff.
Norquay is Calgary’s closest Banff
resort. At 112 km (69 miles) from the Calgary City limits, Norquay is a
short 1hour drive on the trans Canada Highway.
Even though Mt. Norquay is the
smallest of the three Banff National Park ski resorts, it still has a
punch. With three quads and one double chair.
A large two-story timber-framed day
lodge built in the 1990s services the area. Roomy and open, the lodge
corrals skier conveniences--a lesson desk, cafeteria, bar, and
restaurant--all with upslope views to the limestone ridge above
Canmore
Located on the Bow River
and flanked on all sides by the front ranges of the Canadian Rocky
Mountains, the town of Canmore offers the best of all possible worlds.
Beginning with an enviable geographic location approximately an hour
and a half from downtown Calgary and five minutes from Banff National
Park east gate, Canmore offers not only a spectacular location but
unequalled outdoor recreational opportunities, great food, and great
shopping in the heart of some of the world's most breathtaking scenery.
Canmore is minutes away from Banff National Park, Kananaskis Country
and Bow Valley Provincial Parks, five world-renowned ski resorts, and
six breath-taking golf courses. With an international airport just 1.5
hours away, Canmore has a myriad of opportunities to offer adventurous
locals and visitors alike.
The town centre elevation is 1309 metres (4296 Feet) with surrounding
summits reaching heights of 1000 metres (3281 feet). The Bow River
flows through the heart of town connecting residents to a network of
wildlife corridors and trails. This unique geography supports an
abundance of local wildlife and wildflowers and provides endless
opportunities to experience nature at her best in and around town.
Capitalizing on opportunities presented by
the 1988 Winter Olympics the residents of Canmore turned a small mining
town with a once uncertain future into an international tourist
destination earning a reputation for excellence and innovation. Our
youthful, energetic and well-educated population values a vigorous,
outdoor adventure lifestyle; a lifestyle that supports and encourages
an entrepreneurial spirit. This compelling combination has made Canmore
one of the fastest-growing and most desirable communities in Canada.
